Yikes! Has it really been two and a half months since my last post?!

I'm sorry. :( I know all 5 of you are dying to know what I've been up to. ;)

Business
Not that keeping a home and raising a lot of our own food isn't enough work, I'm also managing 3 businesses and I LOVE IT. I'm not making a steady income yet, but I'm getting there.
  • Housekeeping: I think that a lot of people would be surprised to know the demand for housekeeping. I know that it varies from place to place, but there are a lot of people that need someone to take that burden out of their hands while they tend to other things. I clean 1 or 2 days a week so it's a very homeschooler-friendly occupation.
  • Baking: I love to bake. LOVE IT, I say. Some of my customers like to treat themselves with my Snowball cookies, while others like to gift my delectable goodies. All of my treats are handmade from scratch.
My busiest time is during the holidays. How nice to be able to serve a fresh, homemade, from scratch apple pie at Thanksgiving and not have to worry about the time to prepare it.
Gardening and Canning
The garden has been coming in pretty steadily now for a few weeks. I've been freezing squash, zucchini, okra and corn. I've canned salsa and pasta sauce, pickles and jalapenos. We have a pretty zinnia bouquet in just about every room in the house.

I still plan to try for a fall garden. I will be replanting green beans pretty soon since the rabbits ate our first try down to the nubs. I want to add some greens as well as some winter squash. I LOVE acorn squash.

Homeschool
The kids and I are so excited about our new school year. We've purchased a few supplies and have some of the curriculum lined up. I will do a separate post on the curriculum and new resources that I love, but for now I'll show you our updated homeschool center.

We don't have a homeschool room, nor do we do all of our work at the kitchen table, but I like having a place to keep it all together.

I will do a separate post on the organization of our center, but to give you a little history on this piece-- This was in the kitchen before, but we had to move some things around and it ended up in EJ's room for a while. The kids recently got some new-to-us bedroom furniture so we had to reshuffle the existing furniture and I got this lovely back.

It was originally my Caveman's grandparents' dresser. The date on the back of it is 1953. It was a lovely avocado green veneer with antiqued brass hardware. Flat black paint and brushed nickle spray paint and BAM!...pretty. :) It holds EV.ER.EE.THANG.

The books that are on top are there because that's what I use everyday and don't want to have to open a drawer to get it out, not because there isn't room for it.

That's all I've got for now! Hope you all are doing well.
