Does Gardening Really Save You Money?

I have been asked many times, "Does gardening really save you money?" The answer is an emphatic YES!

At my local farmer's market, a bundle of eight beets will cost $4.00, where a pack of two-hundred beet seeds will cost me $0.99. Yes, time and sweat go into it, but that's one of the most satisfying parts of gardening and you can't put a price tag on it for me. In fact, the hours that I spend in the garden save money that I would spend on a therapist or a gym membership....not that I need a therapist...

Moving on.

My new friend, Brianne, from the Instagram account and YouTube channel, House to Homestead, saw that I was going to be sharing with everyone what we spend on the garden and then what we bring in from the garden, comparing it to what we would have to spend if we purchased it from the farmers market or grocery store, to show just how much money we save by growing our own food. She sent me a message and said that she was planning on doing the same thing on her channel and wanted to know if I would be interested in collaborating.

I said, "Sure! That's a great idea!"

So, now begins our exciting Garden to Pantry collaboration. We don't have anything formal set for this collab, other than we are recording expenses, recording our harvest, and then we will price compare with the grocery stores and the local farmers market to reiterate our point.

This is going to be so much fun and we are thrilled to take you guys along for our journey!

I am keeping up with my Garden Expenses on the blog. I also have a Garden Journal that you can also follow along with.

I interviewed Brianne on my channel on April 4, 2017, and we talked about our project. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions for either of us regarding this endeavor.
